The EZReader Book Reader allows you to read text files, which is the format of the ~100 free books distributed with EZReader.

EZReader is able to convert other book formats to text so that the books can be read in EZReader. In particular, PDF and Word (DOCX) files can be converted to text for reading in EZReader. Kindle books can also be converted to text for reading in EZReader. Any images found in the original files are not available in the resulting text files.

EZReader can also read books to you. You can control the volume as well as the reading speed.

As with all EZReader apps, the user can adjust colors, fonts, text size, character spacing and other display features to best fit the user's vision constraints.

As part of installation, EZReader provide 90 free books, distributed into the following folders:

Free Book Folders:

  • Fiction - 56 books from the Gutenberg project
  • Non-Fiction - 4 books from the Gutenberg project
  • SciFi - 30 books from the Gutenberg project

Books can be added to or deleted from these folders. Users may delete folders. Users may also create folders and place books (text files) into those folders.

During operation, EZReader will automatically create the following folders to contain books that are received by email or imported from a flash drive.:

Automatically Created Folders:

  • Email - reserved for books received via email
  • Import - reserved for books imported via flash drive
  • Kindle - reserved for books imported from the user's Amazon Kindle account
  • NewsPapers - reserved for newspapers received via email
  • PDF - reserved for books received via email or imported via flash drive
  • Word - reserved for books received via email or imported via flash drive

See the Help section on Import for details on importing books via flash drives.

The National Federation of the Blind Newsline program provides free newspapers for low vision users. The NFB can email the newspapers to registered users and the EZReader email client can receive the newspapers and place them in the Book Reader for reading.
