EZReader System:

EZReader consists of over 30 custom applications designed to give vision-impaired users improved access to computer capabilities. This is the Help page for the EZReader Email application.

 OverView

Coupled with ease-of-use and a full list of standard features, the EZReader email client opens new doors to communication with friends and family for users with visual impairments.

The Email client allows users to send and receive emails. Text message can also be sent (but not received).

Incoming email is converted to text and displayed using the same user-selected settings with which text is viewed throughout EZReader. Email attachments are listed and may be viewed using EZReader's internal viewer or using the default clients installed on the user's PC.The

Attachments can be received, but not sent.

Three email location are supported - InBox, OutBox and Archives. Messages are received in the InBox and may be transferred to the Archives once they are read.

The Email main screen has 3 rows of navigation/action icons. The right-most icon, the "Menu" icon, is used to move through all available rows of icons.

The menu icon consist of multiple dots, where the number of dots tells you how many row of navigation/action icons are supported by the current screen. The dot with the white center indicates which row is currently displayed.

Row 1 Icons

Icon actions are as follows:

Icon 1: Exit

Icon 2: Download new emails

Icon 3: Cycle through InBox, OutBox, Archives and Contacts

Icon 4: View selected item

Icon 5: New email (or contact)

Icon 6: Search

Icon 7: Next row of navigation/action icons

Row 2 Icons

Icon actions are as follows:

Icon 1: Exit

Icon 2: UnCheck all items

Icon 3: Check all emails from same person

Icon 4: Check all items at and below the selected item

Icon 5: Delete all checked items

Icon 6 Send all checked items to Archives

Icon 7: Next row of navigation/action icons

Row 3 Icons

Icon actions are as follows:

Icon 1: Exit

Icon 2: Increase font size

Icon 3: Decrease font size

Icon 4: Change colors

Icon 5: Change font

Icon 6: Change brightness

Icon actions are as follows:

Icon 1: Exit the application

Icon 2: New email

Icon 3: Reply

Icon 4: Add all email addresses to Contact list

Icon 5: Play/pause speaking

Icon 6: Stop speaking

 POP3

The EZReader email client supports only POP3 email accounts.

Here are some common POP3 server settings:

  • GMAIL

    smtp.gmail.com 465

    pop.gmail.com 995 0/1

  • YAHOO

    smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465

    pop.mail.yahoo.com 995 0/1

  • AOL

    smtp.aol.com 587

    pop.mail.yahoo.com 995 0/1

Getting POP3 access to some servers, such Gmail and Yahoo, requires the user to make settings changes to their account..
